Wire Rope Sockets
LiftQuip Australia can perform a range of Wire Rope Socketing. The work can be done either in our Regency Park workshop or on site
The technical services team have recently completed a number of wire rope sockets , both the more traditional open spelter sockets as well as crane resin sockets
The main process for these sockets involves the use of Wirelock, which is a cold socketing compound for use with Wire Ropes. Firstly the wire rope is served and then a section of the wire rope is unwound so that it looks like a brush made up of individual wires. The socket is then pulled over the splayed wires and the resin is poured into the bowl of the socket. The amount of Wirelock used is relative to the size of the wire rope/socket involved
Post work, there are a number of checks to be performed to ensure that the work has been completed as per manufacturers specifications, including load testing
Below are some pictures of a recent Crane Resin Socket that was completed onsite for a customer. If you would like to discuss your Wire Rope requirements further, please don’t hesitate to contact the team at LiftQuipÂ
